the true heir (4/4)

“What are you thinking ?” she asked the boy.
“I don’t know.”
“Then you are…”
” Which is…?”
“Thinking about your problems…”
“I’m fine.”
“Alright. But remember that you can always tell me.”
“Do you like it ?”
“What do you mean ?”
“Things that are to be done after college… Your passion for being a chef and your obligation of being something. What I am saying is that you could make money but you won’t be able to transfer hope to the next generation.”
“No one can talk about hope as it is infectious. And, on a second thought, what do you hope for…?”
“That everything is possible if you start something…”
“That is one big ‘If’. Besides, What am I going to lose ?”
“Nothing and Obviously, you gain nothing…”
“Look, your opinion doesn’t matter. It’s always good to take a promising career first.”
“And after making money…”
“What the hell happened to you. You don’t always ask these many questions.”
“Don’t mind. Whatever it is, I always like you for not judging me. I just want to wish you for your life.”
“Oh, Finally, huh… Thank you and you know that I always reflect the same of your wishes.”
They parted in good spirits. They’ve decided to meet the others on every new year.
One fine morning after two weeks,
Sanjay found that his son was missing with a slip glued to the mirror.
Dad,
I am not sure to start this journey at this very night. Especially, when there are a lot of whispers around me.
I’ve had some revelations in the recent days. A wise man once quoted, when someone didn’t lose everything when they don’t have anything, then they are in the sight of a true success. I began to feel the truth in every prospect. I wonder why it took me this long to start a journey to see the actual beginning of my problems. Good thing is that I wasn’t afraid of them. I don’t know that I return with success or with a lot of happiness or at least when the society has a different opinion about life.
P.S… I wouldn’t blame anyone if you’ve found few bucks less in your wallet.

Sanjay felt the joy to keep the letter inside his pocket and proudly, walked away.

“What’s the point, dad ?” he finally asked, rubbing his blue eyes.

“Just a few minutes away.”

He parked near a hotel and took a walk along the deserted road.

“Come along…”

Sanjay stopped near a huge billboard, with an advertisement of a bulb on it.

“This is it…?”

“I am going to tell you a truth, son”

“Okay, this is a bit scary.”

“Look at that bus stop. My name used to be famous for this place, like the one of a kind. There was a lot of praises and wishes from my friends. This is the farthest place that I’ve traveled from my hometown. Everyone says that my broken fingers wasted my career. But the truth always makes me a culprit.” He continued,

“It’s not that I didn’t love playing cricket. But I didn’t have the courage to go for the last mile to achieve it. If I say a reason to convince you, it may not be the truth. I could’ve blamed my mother or the whispering neighbors or my ego to challenge a bowler only to hurt the naked fingers, but it doesn’t matter.”

Sanjay said, looking away from his son. When he turned towards his son, his eyes were attentive as ever could be.

“Son,…” It was new for both of them, “When you love something, make sure to cross the extra mile. Life is always a quest to find your true happiness. It is rather tempting but never compromise on your dreams.”

Later on, they walked away.

The 21-year old didn’t hesitate to take an extra glass of alcohol.

“College is an addiction, isn’t it?” he let his sharp voice to spread evenly among his friends.  It was on a twilight day that the three graduates decide to share their happiness.

“Just half a glass and now, he is on…” Said the other, with a chuckle.

“Addiction…Huh?” she finally asked, submitting to the temptation.

“Don’t encourage him.”

“Come on, let’s play a game. Explain it to us and if you can’t convince…” As she struck with words to fall out,

“Convince you. I don’t need to.” He continued, “Let’s make a toast.”

“Before anything, I would like to suggest you something…” his friend continued, “I know you want to be a writer. I know your knowledge to reform make you say crazy. Remember, we live in a crazy world where neither is ambitious nor encouraging. The system was always corrupted and people who would try probably end in a bad shape. I know your rush as hormones at this age but….”

His friend changed his posture and continued,” I once knew a friend very much like the passion of yours. An exact same ambition yet he isn’t wise enough to take my advice. He went around raising his collar to find his goals and now, you won’t believe me the position he’s in. He finally said that I am right. I am not saying that as a victory to me, but it’s just a good foresight. Everyone isn’t aimless, look at our friend…” he pointed his hand to her.

“Don’t bring my reasons…”

“No. It’s not an embarrassment to make a right choice. Besides, who am I to judge you. I am not offending you, my friend. But you must be able to grasp the reality of the situation. And for the toast,

‘To us for making money’.” said his friend.

“Fancy that…” she said, clipping their glasses.

The third one finally raised his glass and said,

“Sure.”

“The massive suspected terrorist attack held several dead, yet the identities…” The radio shuttered due to lost signal in a four seated Cherokee.

The 27-year-old thought about those hand-picked victims for the operation,

“Bunch of douche bags,”

The oldest never imagined riding in a 2001 model car,

“Can’t you drive any faster, boy.” Mimicking his boss words, ‘You’ll keep low a profile.’Hell does that mean ?”

While the thin man was steering with a thought of woman at home, the boss says,

“It means not to shit bed while you’re out open..”

The audio clip went viral with an #eviltalk, claiming a conversation between a criminal and his affair.

“ It was your boy who did that..”

The thin man knows that he would be dead if only the boss weren’t his cousin.

“Enough..” said the boss, who orchestrated the entire plot.

It is not more than a week that he took a contract. He got the cliche reply of ‘someone wants it done’ for his question about the reason.

The part of his plan was to gather 12 dead bodies from the mortuary to place at the arena. He final words before the act were,

“Even if anyone gets caught, just remember that no one killed no one. Everyone stays innocent.” and ends up saying,” Make sure the contract to be intact.”

Frankly, he was bit disappointed to get a byproduct for his plan.

“Where is the woman..?” he asked, facing the thin man.

“Who..?”.

“The one you’ve hooked up with, boy..”

“I don’t know.”

Not a second has passed to let a familiar voice from the radio,

“I.. Now that I know that he’s a criminal, I can’t…” tension was stung by woman’s voice.

“We understand. Can you tell more about your conversation with him..?” The reporter asked.

“Yeah.,” She took an effortless breath, “He said that the victims are not alive even before the blast.”

The nightmare of thin man came alive and began to gather terrifying looks from the people around him. The sight of young Sid running across the road made his quivering hands to lose control on steering.

“I love you,” They said to each other but neither did they mean it.

It is meant to be a sound of comfort to claim a happy life.

She went out of the bed to attend a phone call.

After a few minutes,

“What is it? ” asked her husband, seeing the sudden shift of urgency.

“There seems to be an attack. I have to go…” her reporter’s voice came alive.

“Shall I drop you..?” he asked to make certain of his plans.

“No.. I’ll be fine.”

While she was driving away, he swiped a phone number.

“Hello, angel. Are you…” the unusual calmness of her startled him, “Are you alright ?”.

“Yeah. Just had a rough day.” Her voice made him think of their rough nights.

“I want…”

In an instant, Sid crashed with the woman on the other end.

She cursed the kid and when she picked her phone from the ground, it went blank.

“Nasty kids..” she turned to her left only to find a thin man staring,

“You moron, where have you been hiding..? you even made my life miserable,..” she began to sob,

“Wait, what happened..? ”

“Police questioned me for your ass. Said that you’ve involved in some bomb bullshit. Whatever, my clients…” She stopped at seeing a hint of nervousness in his face.

“You know…?”

“What..No way.” His expressions are not very hideous,

“You lying piece of…Get away from me.”

Neither of them knows that there was a keen ear on their conversation through her blank phone.

The news is too big for him. Even tougher to make a choice.

“Hi..You know, it’s goddamn mess on the streets. Anyway, you want to talk something..” the reporter said.

He began to say the news and anticipated a question even before she asked,

“How exactly do you know her..?”

He said the truth, seeking a lie would be too much to bear the guilt.

“Okay, Let’s help to catch them.” She said.

An impulse sparked at his spinal as ‘Okay’ in her voice was terrifying.

Holidays were not going along with the sid’s imagination. It only took first three days to prove him wrong. It was an ad commercial that finally got his nerve,

“Use our new germ-tech toothbrush to see and era…”

As he was walking away,

“Do you want to buy one, Sid? ” His mother asked casually.

“That one…” Pointing to the ad, “Why would I want to see my own germs on my smartphone..?”

“Maybe a 9-year-old can brush more..”

“Weird inventions… Why are they so aimless ?”

“Look at who is talking….” His mother smiled, “ Ask it yourself.”

To his surprise, he didn’t get a reply.

He went for a walk and bought some crayons.

An hour passed,

It was same paper as before except for…

It might be a god’s idea to sent a gush of air to elope the paper from the sid’s lap.His second thought was to let it go, but the first reminded him of his hour’s treasure.

He ran. Almost slipped, crashed but never got the paper off-sight.Unknowingly, sid’s narration for his run started a chain reaction.

He smiled when the thought of both having enough time to roam around crossed his mind.

Midst the pollution, he could see the date written on the piece of paper.

“20/03/2020”.

A man from 21st century

EPISODE: 1 ( The desert )

It was completely dark.

He had no knowledge of sound from his volatile memory. No sweat poured out of his skin. No oxygen is required to filter his blood.

Blood is no longer a fluid.., he thought.

The irony is that he’s alive.

He never gave much thought of getting out of darkness.

At one moment of his endless time, His clock began to tick. A beam of sun ray began to pounce through the crack of the compartment.

My world is under attack.

His exposed skin began to melts for few seconds and then,

It happened.

A stabbing sense begins to start at the left side of his chest. A warm fluid began to pour throughout his body as a notion of control. He felt the strength in his muscles. It took a long time to propagate the crack into a size of his body.

As the sun began to descend into the horizon, he was completely out of his coffin.

Hunger attacked him with it’s most efficient weapon. He fell naked, hands clenching his stomach.

After few minutes, a balloon shaped object began to descend towards him. His blurred vision thought of it as an angel. He doesn’t have strength to grab it or Not necessarily as it headed towards him.
